Francisco Nicolas Salinas

Francisco Nicolas Salinas

Francisco Nicolas Salinas, 51, of Harlingen, Texas, devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on July 24, 1973.

Francisco Nicolas Salinas, known by many as “Frank” was a hardworking man, caring soul, and most definitely the silliest individual in every room.  Frank was a skilled survey crew man with over 30 years’ experience, who with hard work, experience and perseverance held the position as Senior Party Chief for the civil engineering firm he was employed with for the last 14 years. He was an esteemed employee and tremendous resource and asset to his company. He was often seen working in every type of weather, blazing heat, the freezing cold or 4ft deep grasslands. No treacherous working conditions ever kept him and his crew from getting the job done. His expertise in the field often lead him to train new hires and he loved to share his knowledge with anyone who asked. His favorite project site was working at SpaceX grounds. He often talked about the size of the rocket and how amazing the views were. Even before having the opportunity to be at SpaceX his interest in space and rockets was always a topic of conversation.

His hard work ethic was always present, and he also took the opportunity to share this value with his children. When time permitted, even after a work shift at times he would help his nephew Bobby with his fireworks stand. He and his daughter, Bianca would sell fireworks as a way to bond with one another and also to teach her the skill of customer service. Frank was an excellent sales-man. His charisma was appreciated by his customers, and many would return looking forward to being helped by him again.

His heart of gold often shone bright when others needed his help. He would be the “go-to” guy for everyone who ever needed something fixed, built, or needed advice. His family and friends often relied on him for fixing a car, repairing a plumbing issue, a building project or even just to have a conversation. He rarely said no to help anyone. He was a true jack of all trades.

Aside from his job and helping others, his daily life included making silly jokes with his kids, wife, and coworkers. He would call his family and coworkers silly names to make them laugh and smile. His jokes were so unique and hilarious, it was hard not to laugh along with him. His humor was so infectious, and it lightened the mood every time.  He was a true homemaker at heart, he enjoyed cooking delicious meals for his family, a grill master that enjoyed listening to rock music as he barbecued, and the seafood boils from H-E-B were his favorite and highly recommended them.  He was also an excellent “Fur” dad to Cody, Ginger, Sarah, and Luna his reliable pet companions that he diligently cared for and often expressed he “disliked” the but was often caught playing with them. On Friday nights he would like to sit on the balcony with his wife and enjoy a nice evening filled with conversation, a few smokes and beers, something he looked forward to at the end of every week. He was the pillar of his family, his wife relied on his emotional support when needed. His “teddy bear” heart always had love, understanding and comfort for his loving wife and his children. His wife and their children will forever remember their Friday evenings together.

Frank was a caring father and looked forward to spending time with his children. He liked to teach his children life lessons or elaborate on topics of interest. He often played cards with his youngest son, Liam as a way to pass time, he supported his daughter Bianca with her cheerleading performances ( he was her biggest cheerleader from the stands!), and was beyond proud of his daughter of Natalie and his son Nicolas. He often encouraged his family to try their best. His children were his world, and from either near or far he always held them close to his heart.

As a brother and uncle, he enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, fixing cars, and cracking jokes for everyone to laugh. The memories they created throughout the years will never be forgotten. For those who had the privilege to meet such a kind soul, he often spoke of those childhood friends, thank you for caring and sharing good memorable moments with Frank. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone else whose life he touched.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Ovidio and Maria Magdalena Salinas; and his sister Juanita “Janie” Camarillo.

Left to cherish his memory  and to always be loved and held close to their hearts is his beloved wife, Diana Salinas and their children Bianca Salinas and Liam Salinas; and his children Natalie Salinas and Nicolas Brian Salinas; his brother and sisters, Obie (Maribel), Norma (Robert), Oscar (Sandra), Omar (Cindy), Nelda (Mando), Vickie, Patty (David), Danny, and Marco Salinas; and numerous nieces and nephews, and his loyal fur companions Cody, Ginger, Sarah and Luna.

——————————————————-

Rest in paradise to my dad. The first man I ever loved. He was the man to make you smile in a heart beat, despite of his own struggles. My dad, Frank, was always about his family and friends that became family. He still is my favorite person in the world. My heart aches for all of the family and friends that lost a brother and friend. Thank you to Sunset memorial funeral home for taking care of my dad during this time.
