Rogerio Garza Jr.

Rogerio Garza Jr., 88, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Ebony Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on March 29, 1936.

Rogerio was a retired United States Navy Seamen who served for 22 years. He was also a Vietnam War Veteran.

He is preceded in death by his parents Rogerio and Guadalupe Garza; his children Rogerio Garza III and Kimberly Ann Garza; his sister Mary Torres and his brother Mario Garza.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Carmen Melendez Garza; his daughter Diana Garza-Ibarra (Fernando); and his four grandchildren Christopher Adams, Timothy Adams, Jeremy Adams, Joel Rene Ibarra, and Aaron Roger Sherwood; and his siblings Olga Garza-Castellon, Juan Garza, Gonzalo Garza, and Jose Angel Garza.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, with recitation of The Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Services conclude at the end of the mass.

    so sad to hear this news i was stationed with roger on the USS LaSale LPD-3 in sept of 68 he taught me how to cook i’ll miss him he was a good friend and shipmate
