Bernardo Santa-Coloma Jr., 90 of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York, New York on May 31, 1934.

Psychotherapist and retired school teacher, Bernardo Santa-Coloma’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. At the time of his passing, Bernardo was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Bernardo completed his Bachelor’s degree at The University of California Santa Cruz and continued his education to complete a Master’s in Integral Counseling and Psychology at the California Institute of Asian Studies, and a Master’s of Education at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Bernardo’s pride lied in his family, his studies, patients and students, and he shared his passion for learning and psychology with hundreds of people over the years.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bernardo. He enjoyed a quiet morning/afternoon in his study surrounded by books; reading, writing or meditating, and enjoying a good scotch or wine.

He is preceded in death by his mother Belma Santa-Coloma Remotti and his father Bernardo Santa-Coloma; and his siblings Roberto Santa-Coloma, Mawee Santa-Coloma, and Belma Santa-Coloma.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sofia Santa-Coloma; his daughter Ananda Santa-Coloma (Nicholas Sanson); his grandchildren Anita Santa-Coloma, Natalia Sanson, Ava Sanson, and Enzo Sanson; his siblings Carlos Santa-Coloma, Carmen Santa-Coloma; and Nora Santa-Coloma.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 05, 2024 with recitation of The Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 06, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church and interment is to follow at 11:00 a.m. to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
