In Loving Memory of Rosario Alaniz

Rosario Alaniz, 92, of Brownsville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on November 18, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on October 7, 1932, in Brownsville, she lived a life filled with faith, love, and dedication to her family and community.

Rosario was the original founder and owner of Alaniz Tortilla Factory, a business that became a cornerstone of her family’s success. Her entrepreneurial spirit extended to the beloved Alaniz Ranch, where she demonstrated her love for animals, self-sufficiency, and growth through various projects. She was known for her generosity toward the community, her passion for growing beautiful roses, decorating extravagant cakes, and her famous homemade tamales that delighted generations of family and friends.

She embraced life fully, enjoying coffee, dancing with her daughters at Galaxy Bowling, and playing lotería with loved ones. Her home was always filled with joy and laughter, and her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought a special light to her life.

Rosario’s commitment to her family was central to her life, providing her with strength, peace, and guidance. She instilled those values in her family, teaching love, forgiveness, and unity. Her patience, hard work, and devotion to her family created a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Rosario was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Pedro Alaniz; daughters Virginia (Arturo) Silva, Maria Del Rosario (Guillermo) Gomez, and Hermelinda Hernandez; son Jose Ricardo Alaniz; and grandchildren Rebecca Silva and Andres Jose Silva.

She is survived by her children Sylvia (Fred) Solis, Carlos (Carmen) Alaniz, Ninfa (Felix) Sauceda, and Eduardo (Sandra) Alaniz; her sister Olga Villarreal; and a legacy of grandchildren, Linda (Gary), Cynthia (Omar), Robert (Laura), Humberto (Lisa), Melissa, Alex, Erick (Genesis), Liliana, Annette (Elizabeth), Griselda (Jorge), Karla (Vincent), Carlos (Alana), Carlo (Vianey), Joe, Jacob, Jonathan, Tiffany, Jaqueline, Cheryl (David), Kimberly, Ricardo (Alexa), Samantha, Stephanie (Arturo), and Savannah; and her Great-Grandchildren: Kayla, Adam, Nicholas, Morgan, Meagan, Leo, Madeleine, Mason, Jordan, Addison, Christopher, Alexyss, Axel, Alexa, Andres, Joshua, Alysha, Rudy, Balam, River, Pilot, Lyla, Kylie, Camila, Olivia, and Samuel; and her Great-Great-Grandchild Maverick.

Serving as pallbearers are Carlos Alaniz, Erick Solis, Carlo Alaniz, Christopher Solis, Rudy Solis and Adam Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are Andres Sierra, Leo Hernandez, Nicholas Leal, and Jacob Alaniz.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 with recitation of the Holy Rosary at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home located at 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, TX 78526. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church located at 2255 Southmost Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521. Interment is to follow at 11:00 a.m. to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Rosario’s life was a testament to love, strength, and faith. Her legacy of resilience, generosity, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
