Alfredo “Chicken” Gomez

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alfredo “Chicken” Gomez.

Alfredo was a lifetime resident of Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from Brownsville High school in 1955. He was a Proud Golden Gloves Champion earning the title three separate years. He was inducted into the RGV Boxing Hall of fame in 2019. After Graduation Alfredo joined the US Air Force where he proudly served.

Alfredo owned and operated Al’s Flooring Service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where served as an Elder.

His parents Margarito and Inez Gomez., daughter Polly Infante (David) and Son in Law Al Ottolino, Brothers Margarito (Santos+), Alberto (Marcelle+), Horacio (Oralia+) and Sisters Elia Gomez Garcia (Eduardo+) and Evangelina Gomez Villarreal (Antonio+) preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years Bunny Pettijohn Gomez, His Children, Ralph Sawyer, Barbara Overton (Dennis) and Melinda Ottolino (Al + ). Grandchildren Joseph Infante, Jacob Infante, Sarah Infante, Michael Ottolino, Mark Ottolino and four Great Grandchildren. His Sister Inez Tamez (Leonel).

A celebration of life service is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Steve Morfitt at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services conclude at the end of the evening.
