Rigoberto Aros Serventi, 86, of Los Fresnos, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 05, 2024, in Harlingen, TX, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Imuris Sonora MX on July 06, 1938.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roberto Felix Serventi and Maria De Los Angeles Aros Serventi. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Irma Ledezma Serventi; children Annette (Ignacio Garcia), Yvette (Christopher Lee), Rigoberto Joseph (Candyce); his grandchildren Victoria Garcia, Roman Garcia, Julia Aguilar, Jillian Aguilar, Joseph Mark Aguilar, Emma Serventi, Elayna Serventi, Ella Serventi, and Elora Grace Serventi; his brothers and sisters Ramiro Serventi (Sherry), Elva Scott (Donald, Sr.), Olga Irene Pemberton, and Ruben Serventi (Agnes).
Rigoberto’s life story is a touching testament to the rich tapestry of experiences that make up a person’s journey. From the humble beginnings in Ajo, Arizona, to the warm embrace of family life in Los Fresnos, Texas, his life was marked by a series of highs and lows that he embraced with resilience and grace. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren, who he saw as his greatest achievements. As he approached the end of his life, Rigoberto’s reflections revealed a man deeply grateful for the blessings he had received. The enduring love and companionship of his wife, with whom he had shared nearly six decades, was a cornerstone of his contentment. He often marveled at how lucky he felt to have met his wife, seeing it as a divine twist of fate. In his last days, their enduring love was a powerful reminder of a life lived with love and devotion. Rigoberto’s story shows just how fulfilling and joyful life can be when it’s filled with family and love.
Rigoberto proudly served in the United States Army and completed two tours in Vietnam. His commitment and bravery earned him several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Medal 2 for outstanding achievement in aerial flight, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Aircraft Crew Member Badge, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation. Before retiring in 2005, Rigoberto was the Transportation Director for NINOS, Inc. Head Start in Cameron County.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, with Military Honors at 6:00 p.m. and recitation of The Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services conclude at the end of the evening. A mass will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Heavenly Father Church, 9718 Tomas Cortez Jr., Street, Olmito, Texas.
