Hermelinda Alaniz-Hernandez

Hermelinda Alaniz Hernandez, 74, of Los Fresnos, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Nadia’s House surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 28,1949, in Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her father Jose Pedro Alaniz; her husband Humberto Hernandez (divorced); her brother Jose Ricardo Alaniz; her sisters Virginia Ann Silva and Maria Del Rosario Gomez.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother Maria Del Rosario Alaniz; her children Linda M. Sauceda (Gary), Cynthia J. Hernandez (Omar), Robert M. Hernandez (Laura) and Humberto Hernandez Jr. (Lisa); her grandchildren, Kayla N. Hernandez, Adam J. Lopez, Nicholas A. Leal, Morgan C. Sauceda, Meagan J. Sauceda, Leo Hernandez, Mason A. Hernandez, Madeleine G. Hernandez, Jordan M. Hernandez, Addison F. Hernandez; her sisters Sylvia Solis (Federico) and Ninfa Sauceda (Felix); her brothers Carlos Alaniz (Carmen) and Eduardo Alaniz (Sandra); and her two brother in laws Arturo Silva (Virginia†) and Guillermo Gomez (Maria del Rosario†).

Hermelinda was a Science teacher for over 25 years, whom specialized in Astronomy and Constellations. She was dedicated to lifelong learning and teaching of anything related to Science. She was a master teacher. She was a lover of animals, nature and botany. She was a master Gardner. She was a fashion diva nicknamed “Queen Linda” by the fellow residents for her fashionista yet simple style. She was tenderhearted and supporter of her children and grandchildren. She was a great confidant who maintained lifelong friendships. Hermelinda had other interests as well, she loved to sew and craft, shopping and playing chalupa. She dearly enjoyed getting together for coffee with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024 with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 10:00 a.m on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Interment is to follow at 1:00 p.m. to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
