Fidelfa Gonzalez

Fidelfa “Nena” Garza Gonzalez, 87, of Brownsville, Texas, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, relative, and friend. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her son Roy’s home in Magnolia, Texas. She was born in Brownsville, Texas, on August 11, 1936.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rogerio (Roy) Gonzalez Sr.; her parents, Adolfo and Guadalupe Garza; and siblings Ramon Garza, Abel Garza, Adolfo Garza Jr., Matilde Ninfa (Garza) Guillen, and Norma (Garza) Ortiz.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister Maria (Garza) Ruiz and her sons Jesus “Jesse” (Dolores) Gonzalez and Rogerio “Roy” (Ramona) Gonzalez Jr. Her grandchildren, Andrew Blake Gonzalez, Simon Anthony Gonzalez, Victoria Gonzalez, and Samuel Thomas Gonzalez, also survive her.

She was employed by Mac’s Hobby Shop for 10 years and BISD for 30 years and was a devoted parishioner of Christ the King (Brownsville), Immaculate Conception Cathedral (Brownsville), and St. Joseph’s (Edinburg). Fidelfa was the family’s (and others’) confidant, counselor, mediator, and prayer warrior. Her grandchildren were everything to her, and she enjoyed seeing them excel academically and in extracurricular activities. You could see her at the pool for swim meets and in the stands at football games, where she was always complimented on her beautiful hair.

My deepest condolence to the Gonzalez family. I knew Mrs Fidelfa Gonzalez through Ninfa(my neighbor) her sister. Mrs Gonzalez was such a nice, friendly person. She was always smiling. I will miss her dearly like I miss Ninfa.. RIP. 🙏🙏

I went on funeral home site to look for someone else’s info & I come across her obit. If I would have seen entry on herald I would have gone to pay my respects to this beautiful lady. She was one of my cherished teachers from Canales & from CCD at Christ the King; but my fondest memories are of her teaching me the folklorico routine for Charro Days at Canales…I was in 1ST GRADE back in 1983-1984!!! My deepest condolences on your great loss.
