Truelito Vergara Esguerra, 80, of Brownsville, TX, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered eternal rest on June 9, 2024 after receiving the Last Rites of the Holy Catholic Church at Valley Regional Medical Center with his sons by his side and surrounded by his loving family and friends.
“Lito” was born on March 5, 1944 in Nueva Ecija, Philippines during World War 2. He graduated from Wesleyan University, Cabanatuan City in the Philippines prior to emigrating to the United States. He built a life in West Paterson, NJ and worked as a clerk in the U.S. Postal Service Center in Kearny, NJ. He retired in 2006 and relocated to Brownsville, TX. He had a strong spirit, was outspoken, filled with stories and knowledge, and never failed to make those around him smile and laugh. He loved fishing, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and spoiling his grandchildren with surprise snacks and magic tricks.
He is preceded in death by his parents Adriano and Rosetta Esguerra and nephew Jonathan Bargiel.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Anselma (Miraflores); his children, Alan “Ace” and Arnold “AJ”; his daughters-in-law, Amy and Victoria; his grandchildren, Luca and Nikko; his sister May Bargiel, and his brothers Charlie and Abe.
Visitation is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary Novena at 10:30 a.m. A mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Services will conclude at the end of mass.
