Ramiro Lopez, 78, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered eternal rest on June 9, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, TX on July 16, 1945.
He is preceded in death by his mother Lucinda F. Lopez, father Victorino V. Lopez; sisters Guadalupe Antunez, Diana L. Morales, Ernestina Lopez; brothers Enrique Lopez, Pedro Lopez, Victor Jr. Lopez, Raul Lopez, Jesus Lopez.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Lupita Lopez; daughters Lynnette Lee Lopez, Lorena Yvette Lopez; grandchildren and great grandchildren Justin Ramy Reynosa (Stacy) – Faith Nevaeh, Jackson Oliver, Jason Lee. Brittany Lauren Sandoval (Hernan) – Hernan Andres II. Madison Nicole Reynosa; and his sisters Linda Espinosa, Yolanda Lopez, brothers Santiago Lopez, Jose Lopez, Rolando Lopez. He will be greatly missed.
Ramiro was devoted in his Catholic faith. He was an exemplary, loving, and caring dad. He was strong and kind-hearted, always willing to lend a helping hand to all. He was a proud combat veteran, dedicated to honoring his flag and country. He was retired, served in the U.S. Army, Vietnam Veteran; worked at Sprague Electric, Officer of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS), where he was also a firearm instructor.
Ramiro earned and was distinguished with the rank of S/Sgt. while in the Infantry, U.S. Army 1967-1969 Basic and Advance Infantry Training at Ft. Polk, LA; in the front lines at the Vietnam War from January 1968 – January 1969; Infantry – Recon – Mobile Riverine Force from the Central Highlands to Mekong Delta – Tet Offensive Feb. 1968. He served with the U.S. Army, Company E. 4th Battalion, 39th Infantry Division Stationed in 1969 at: Hq. Co. AIT Com. Gp. 3rd AIT 4th U.S. Army at Ft. Polk, LA as an Advanced Infantry Instructor and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with The Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. The chapel will open at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and a funeral mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. to Buena Vista Burial Park.
