With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Aurora Maza, 88, of Brownsville, TX. Mrs. Maza was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She entered at the glory of eternal rest on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Valley Regional Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 16, 1935 in Brownsville, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Morales and Guadalupe Cuellar Morales; one sister, Micaela Morales Baker; and one grandson, Devon Joseph Guilbeau.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Juan Jose Maza; three children, John Joe Maza, Yvonne (Mario) Fasci, and Mike (Monica) Maza; her grandchildren, John David Maza, Preston Anthony Guilbeau, Miguel Eduardo Maza, Liliana Maza, Marcelo Maza, J.J. Maza, Joanna Maza, Joanna Maza, Kathy Maza, Ilan Maza, and Zaila Maza; two great-grandchildren, Sofie Colorado and Noah Maza; her siblings, Alicia Guerrero, Oralia Yzaguirre, and Mary Lou Vasquez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 with recitation of The Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection is to be held at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and interment is to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park.
