Oscar R. Ayala

Oscar R. Ayala, 92, of Brownsville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 01, 2024, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Oscar is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mother Julia Rodriguez, Father Jose Ayala and four Brothers.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Robert Earl Smith (Elena Taylor), Rita Ayala (George III) Tovar; grandchildren Scott, George IV, Clayton, Nacona, Rodney, Roger, Jason, Riva, Robert Jr., Ryan, Jill, Rachel, and Rocky; twenty-five great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oscar met his stunning wife Minerva in 1966 and together they created a beautiful life and raised their children in Brownsville, Texas. Oscar was a kind and generous man who was always willing to encourage and help others. When Oscar was not at The Ranch, Fishing, or Working on his Classic Cars, you could find him rooting for his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys.

Oscars loving and kind legacy will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who had the privilege of meeting him. He will be missed and remembered greatly.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 04, 2024, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. 

Visitation will resume on Friday, April 05, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral procession will depart from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection will commence at 12:00 p.m. and will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 555 W St Francis St, Brownsville, TX 78520. Christian burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at approximately 1:00 p.m.
