Curtis “Curt” Ray Benson

Curtis Ray Benson, 85, of Sterling, Colorado, passed away on February 09, 2024, in Brownsville, TX. Curtis was born to Ilo and Albin Benson on August 12, 1938.

Curt attended both the Benson and Eagle Point schools in the Kelly Community, then graduated from Sterling High School in 1956. Curt served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1963, he married Dottie Bloomfield, and from this union, two sons were born, Ben and Tom Benson. He was involved in all aspects of farming his entire life until he retired. He was also an irrigation ditch rider for twenty years. Curt was an avid outdoorsman. He loved all aspects of hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved his family. For the last eighteen years, he and his wife, Dottie, have spent six months during the winter months in Brownsville, TX.

Curt is survived by his wife of sixty years, Dottie; their son, Ben (Michele) Benson; daughter-in-law, Nancy Benson; one sister, Shirley Briggs; one brother, Cliff (Naioma) Benson; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by one son, Tom Benson; his parents, Ilo and Albin Benson; his brother-in-law, Jerry Briggs.

As per his wishes, there will be no services. His ashes will be scattered at a later date by his family.
