Susana Masso

Susana Masso of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 28th, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico on February 2nd, 1941, the second of eight children born to Juan Santibañez and Susana Jimenez de Santibañez.

She met and married Ricardo Masso Dayeh, the love of her life in 1960 and moved to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico to raise a family. They became the proud parents to five rambunctious boys and there was never a quiet moment in the house. Life was good until a tragic accident took the life of her husband early September 1971. She moved the family to Brownsville in 1975. A strong determined woman, she owned her own beauty beauty shop for many years before going into the fashion retail industry and later in the timeshare industry always placing her children first. Later in life, she would do the same with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She touched many lives and left a legacy of love for everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Susana, her husband Ricardo, her siblings Jorge Santibañez (Beatriz †), Rosario Ocaranza (Humberto†), Gerardo Santibañez (Silvia†).

Left to cherish her memory are her brother and sisters Jaime Santibañez (Martha), Magdalena Handal (Jose †), Carmela Santibañez, Cristina Cancino, and her five sons: Ricardo, Oscar (Nancy), Carlos (Diana), Guillermo (Elvira), Luis (Nayive), her grandchildren: Rick (Amanda), Jackie Portes (Jose) , Carlos Mauricio, Steven, Zachary, Amy Garces (Jesse), Doel (Erica), Hannah (Pattsy), Montserrat, Marcelo,  Fabricio, Ivanna, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the end of Mass.
