Dorothy A. González, entered into eternal rest peacefully at her residence on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Brownsville, Texas.  She was 80 years old. 

Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Brownsville born in 1943.  She was the only child of Ann H. and Dewey Adams.  She was educated by the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament from the time she was in kindergarten until she graduated.  She was a proud member of the Villa Maria graduating class of 1962. 

Dorothy was a working wife and mother; whose professional career opened many doors for her in life.  She worked for USAA in San Antonio, owned and operated Dottie’s International in downtown Brownsville, and she also worked for Brownsville Medical Center.  Dorothy was most proud of her tenure with the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville under Bishop John J. Fitzpatrick.  His guidance and friendship were important to her.  His visits to her home especially when he would say masses with her mother, grandmother, and extended family present were truly meaningful. 

Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Cristina González Yi, her parents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children Gabriela and Leopoldo González and their father Eduardo A. González.  Dorothy will also be missed by her two surviving aunts Pauline Campagna of Wilmington, DE, Sr. Mary Paul Hon, I.W.B.S. of Corpus Christi, TX and numerous cousins and friends.  Dorothy was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.

In accordance with her wishes Dorothy was cremated.  A memorial mass commemorating her life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 555 West St. Charles St.  The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Private committal services will follow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Dorothy’s name may be made to Incarnate Word Sisters Retirement Fund, Attention: Sister Annette Wagner, 5201 Lipes Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX  78413-5501
