Maria Carrizales, 83, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and beacon of unwavering strength and resilience, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. She was born in Zapotillo Villa de Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Her life was a testament to love, dedication, and selflessness as she devoted herself wholeheartedly to the care and well-being of her cherished family.

As a loving sister, mother, and grandmother, Maria’s unwavering love and support formed the cornerstone of her family’s unity. Her nurturing spirit and boundless affection will forever echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Maria found joy in simple yet profound pleasures. Her passion for nurturing life extended beyond her family to her beloved garden, where she cultivated beauty and tranquility. Alongside the vibrant blooms, Maria’s adoration for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in guiding and caring for them, imparting wisdom, love of music, making flour tortillas and endless laughter.

Although Maria has departed from this world, her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will endure through the countless lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Maria Carrizales’s light will continue to shine brightly through the memories she created and the love she shared.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Andres Carrizales; her mother Antonia Carrizal Mendieta; her father Feliciano Torres Castillo; her sisters Maria Modesta Guerra and Rosa Gonzalez; and her brother Jesus Gonzalez.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rodolfo (Yolanda) Carrizales, Ruben (Marcy) Carrizales, Rosa Linda Carrizales, Rosa Maria Carrizales, Alicia (Ronnie) Treviño; and her grandchildren Dora Lily Carrizales, Rodolfo Carrizales Jr., Cynthia Alejandra Carrizales, Marco Antonio Carrizales, Alyssa Renee Treviño, Ronnie Treviño Jr., Andrew Ruben Carrizales, and Anthony Rian Carrizales.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m.  to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. On Thursday, December 14, 2023, a Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park at 3:00 p.m.

Serving as Pall Bearers are Rodolfo Carrizales Jr., Marco Antonio Carrizales, Andrew Ruben Carrizales, Anthony Rian Carrizales, Ronnie Treviño Jr., Ronnie Treviño Sr. and as Honorary Pall Bearers are
Cynthia Alejandra Carrizales, Alyssa Renee Treviño, and Dora Lily Carrizales.
