Gilberto Saenz Salinas of Brownsville, Texas was called home on November 10, 2023 at the age of 84. He was born on April 2, 1939, in Falfurrias TX to Flavio Trevino Salinas and Hortencia Saenz Salinas. He will always be remembered as a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Gilberto was an Army Veteran, athlete, voracious reader, devoted UT Longhorn fan and baseball enthusiast among other sports. He fondly recalled playing baseball with his father and brothers. He was a strong man of Catholic faithfulness who prayed a daily Rosary, attended Mass, and served as an altar boy. Also, a scholarly intellectual having graduated from the University of Texas then pursuing a Master’s degree from Trinity University. Gilberto went on to a successful career in hospital administration then opening some of the first adult daycares in South Texas. Our dearest Gilberto was a person of strong character but had a big heart – always a giver. It gives us comfort knowing he is now reunited with his Heavenly family. Confidently we know he will be watching over us as our Guardian Angel.
Gilberto is preceded in death by his parents, brother, and daughter. We love you, miss you AND will never forget as you will live in our hearts. Deeply consoled by our beautiful memories.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Gilbert, grandchildren Ashley (Kelsey), Gavin, Reia and great grandchild Harper. His brother David (Eva). sisters Anne (Rodney). Olga (Leopoldo), and Janie (Richard). Numerous nieces and nephews. Gilberto was especially fond of Michelle and Dwayne Salinas who lovingly supported him to the end.
