Leticia Diaz

Leticia Diaz, 65, of Brownsville, TX devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, entered eternal rest Friday, November 03, 2023, at Houston Methodist Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on August 31, 1958.

Leticia was a loving and supporting mother and wife. She was outgoing, caring, with such a big heart and a humble soul.  Leticia was a retired educator whose passion was to teach. She was a professor at UTB/TSC who taught Early Childhood courses and a consultant with N.I.Ñ.O.S. Inc. head start. She was a Die-Hard Dallas Cowboys fan who attended all Thanksgiving games, going to casinos, traveling to Boston, reading her bible and she enjoyed watching her novelas and movies on her TV. Playing Chalupa with her family was a favorite pastime. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Julia L. Diaz; and her uncle Armando Sanchez.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Miguel A. Garza; her daughter Icia Paloma Garza; her brothers Marcelino Diaz Jr.  and Larry Diaz; her sister in laws Soila G. Diaz and Ruth Hernandez; her aunt Berta Sanchez; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends; and her beloved dog Kasper.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
