Idolina Lezama de Hernandez

Idolina Lezama de Hernandez, of Brownsville, TX, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend entered into eternal rest on August 31, at her residence. She was born on October 24, 1942, in Jimenez, Tamaulipas, born to Dulces Nombres Cortina and Pedro Lezama, both of whom preceded her in death.

She grew up surrounded by her tight knit family and married Gonzalo Hernandez in 1968. She is now reunited with her loving husband. She is survived by her three children, Gonzalo, Victor and Idolina, their spouses, and her beautiful grandchildren, Gonzalo, Evan and Samantha.

Throughout her life she valued the importance of work and family and extended a helping hand to those in need. She was a successful entrepreneur who did all she could to support her family and those around her. She had a strong conviction in what was right and wrong and applied it to her life as an example to those who loved her. Her generosity and love extended to her nieces and nephews who filled her life with love and admiration. We will remember her for her strength and determination, her tenacity in helping her children and countless others receive an education, and the fierce love that we felt in her presence. We will miss her smile, her advice, and the blessings she imparted to those of who were lucky to know and love her.

A celebration of life service will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, and visitation continues until 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Final viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, then followed with a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Interment is to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Idolina Lezama de Hernández, de Brownsville, TX, devota esposa, madre, abuela, hermana y amiga entró en descanso eterno el 31 de agosto en su residencia. Nació el 24 de octubre de 1942 en Jiménez, Tamaulipas, hija de Dulces Nombres Cortina y Pedro Lezama, quienes la precedieron en la muerte.

Creció rodeada de su familia unida y se casó con Gonzalo Hernández en 1968. Ahora se ha reunido con su amado esposo Gonzalo Hernández. Le sobreviven sus tres hijos, Gonzalo, Víctor e Idolina, sus cónyuges y sus hermosos nietos, Gonzalo, Evan y Samantha.

A lo largo de su vida valoró la importancia del trabajo y la familia y extendió una mano amiga a los necesitados. Fue una empresaria exitosa que hizo todo lo posible para sostener a su familia y a quienes la rodeaban. Tenía una fuerte convicción de lo que estaba bien y lo que estaba mal y lo aplicó a su vida como un ejemplo para aquellos que la amaban. Su generosidad y amor se extendieron a sus sobrinos que llenaron su vida de amor y admiración. La recordaremos por su fuerza y determinación en salir adelante, y su tenacidad para ayudar a sus hijos y a muchos otros a recibir una educación. Extrañaremos su sonrisa, sus consejos y las bendiciones que impartió a aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerla y amarla.

Celebramos su vida de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. el miércoles 6 de septiembre de 2023 en Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. La capilla abre a la 1:00 p.m. el jueves 7 de septiembre de 2023, y la visita continúa hasta las 8:00 p.m. con la recitación del Santo Rosario a las 6:00 p.m. El velorio final se llevará a cabo de 9:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m. en Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, la celebración de una misa fúnebre a las 2:00 p.m. en la Iglesia Católica de San Lucas. El entierro será a las 3:00 p.m. en Buena Vista Burial Park.
