James Arthur Hunter, 72, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Benito, TX on July 11, 1951.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Hunter; his father Walter Paul Hunter; his mother May Esther Hunter; his sister Zola May Dunn; his brother Douglas Paul Hunter; and his son-in-law Robert Silguero.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons Jacob (Jennifer) Hunter and Christopher (Veronica) Hunter; and his one daughter Jayme Irene Hunter; and his grandchildren, Taylor Perez, Savannah Hayden, Riley Silguero, Walter Hunter, Charlotte Hunter, and Regan Silguero.

James was a United States Navy Veteran who served proudly in the Vietnam War. He was a member of United Methodist Church and was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and hunting trips and family vacations and camping.

Memorial Services will be at First United Methodist Church, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

    May you rest in peace old friend.
    . I knew Jimmy back when he worked at the bank downtown and then on the bowling team we had plus at our social events
    . He was always a good friend.
    My condolences to the family. From what I knew of Jimmy he probably was a very good father and grandfather, that would have been Jimmy.

    I saw Jimmy every now .and .then . I enjoyed our visits. Born and raised here we talked about times pasted. I will miss an old friend.
