Guadalupe Castillo-Gonzalez of Omealca, Veracruz, devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and brother in Christ, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 22, 2023
His parents Pedro Castillo and Maria Gonzalez, and his brother Basilio Castillo precede him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Laura Veronica Castillo, his granddaughter Mia Isabella Carrillo, his ex-wife Luisa Castillo, his siblings Angel Castillo and Herminia Castillo, and various extended family in Brownsville, Texas and Veracruz and Cancun, Mexico. His brothers and sisters in Christ from his faith and church communities will also miss him dearly.
Guadalupe Castillo moved from Mexico to Brownsville where he worked for various years at Sea Gardens and then eventually at Brownsville Independent School District as a school bus driver where he eventually retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Dedicated in his Christian faith, he was active in his community as a member of La Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana of Brownsville, Texas and then of his home church group and extended family of faith.
Simply known as “Chon” to many, his care and service for others shined bright, especially during his later years. He always made it a point to invite people to church service and to offer prayer and assistance where he could. He greatly loved his friends and family, both in blood and in Spirit, and his generosity in spirit and enthusiasm will be missed and have set an example to follow.
Visitation is scheduled from 1:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00pm. Services will conclude at the end of the evening.
