Richard Lee Hostetter, 91 of Los Fresnos, Texas died July 09, 2023. He was born April 10, 1932,
near Clarkson, OH, to Fred and Ruth Hostetter. As the firstborn of dairy farmers Dick was
instilled with a strong work ethic from an early age.
After being immersed into Christ at the age of 18, Dick felt called to enter the ministry. He went
on to earn degrees from Kentucky Christian University, Kent State University, and University of
Ghana. Richard and wife Nancy served with congregations in Ohio and North Carolina and were
missionaries in Zimbabwe Ghana, Africa, and St. Vincent. After retiring from full-time ministry,
he volunteered with Hospice and with Servants of the Savior. He also was a professor for
several Bible Colleges and was a prolific reader and writer for several Christian publications.
Throughout his life he had many interests and hobbies including historical studies, playing
basketball and running, fishing, sailing, bird watching, painting, bee keeping, gardening, playing
horseshoes, and wood carving. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy, and
brother Ben Hostetter. He is survived by two sisters: Autumn and husband Rod Huron, Lila
Sheeful, three sons, Jake and wife Penny Jacobs, Jeff and wife Sherrie Hostetter, Lance and wife
Jennifer Hostetter, and daughter, Heather, and husband Patrick Cline, nine grandchildren, and
