Eva G. Garcia, 100, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2022, at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Victoria, Texas on February 14, 1922.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jose Guadalupe Guajardo and Ramona Garcia; husband Alberto Cortez Garcia; children Baby Antonio Garcia, Alberto Garcia Jr., and Cipriano Garcia; siblings Timoteo Guajardo, Jose Meliton Guajardo, Tomas Guajardo, and Apolonia Cardiel.
Left to cherish her memory is her children Eva Ortiz, Irma Diaz, and Antonio “Tony†(Alicia F.) Garcia; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She loved sewing, baking cakes, making tamales, and traveling with family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 1PM to 8PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Friday, December 30, 2022, at 10AM at Lord of Divine Mercy Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers are Antonio “Tony†Garcia Jr., Alberto Garcia, Oleg Mazur, Santiago Ortiz Jr., Meliton Ortiz, and Israel Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers are Evan Garcia and Nikolas Mazur.
