Maria Del Carmen Zacharias, 54, of Brownsville, Texas has transitioned from our beautiful earth into the heavens. Carmen was born on March 10th, 1968, and gracefully lived a beautiful life as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and teacher. She worked at Port Isabel High School for 21 years as a Spanish teacher, but her teachings extended far beyond a subject. Carmen lit up her students and work family with her bright smile, jokes, and her commitment to making sure they got the best experience they possibly could.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory; her beloved parents Beatriz and Tomas Garza; her loving children Christian and Stephanie Zacharias; her three wonderful grandchildren Nathan, Avery, and Sierra Zacharias; her only sibling Esteban Garza and his wife Claudia Garza; niece and nephew, Brianna, and Eduardo Garza and her two best friends Araceli and Jesse Ortega.
Visitation will be held from 12PM-8PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, October 14th, 2022, for family and friends to join in honor of Maria. Funeral mass will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 11AM at Buena Vista Burial Park.
