Zorina Cardenas Balderas

Zorina Cardenas Balderas, 80, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving children. She was born in H. Matamoros, Tamaulipas on August 22, 1942.

She is preceded in death by her husband David Gilberto Balderas, Parents, Miguel and Catalina Cardenas and her brothers Jose Maria, Alvaro, Miguel, and Luciano Javier Cardenas.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Alma (Steve) Solis, Georgina (Tom) Bustamante, Zorina B. Marks, John David (Natalie) Balderas. Grandchildren Alyssa Zorina (Michael) Compton, Amanda and Ariana Bustamante, Ryan David Barron, Steven Daniel Solis Jr., and David Zachary Marks. Great Grandchildren Adlee and Malachi Compton. Siblings Minerva C. Cuellar, Catalina C. Aguirre, Olga C. Alamilla, Niece Norma Leticia Perez, a brother-in-law, sisters-in-laws, numerous nieces, and nephews. Children she cared for as grandchildren Rebeka Galarza, Julieann Thibodeaux, and Aaron Cardenas.

Zorina was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Zorina and David, together, established a Godly spiritual faith in their home, impacting their children and future generations. She shared her wisdom by encouraging and offering inspiring advice to all. Zorina was a caretaker for many years and a natural homemaker for her family. Her kitchen was always open to guests, where they enjoyed her favorite Mexican recipes, home-made flour tortillas and a cup of coffee.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 1:00 to 8:00pm with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers will be John David Balderas, Steve Solis, Ryan Barron, David Zachary Marks, Luciano Javier Cardenas, and Edwardo Perez. Honorary Pallbearer: Tom Bustamante.
