Minerva Flores Ayala, 91, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-great-grandmother, and friend entered into eternal rest on September 13, 2022, at Golden Palms Retirement and Health Center in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Oscar R. Ayala; children Rita Ayala (George III) Tovar, and Robert Earl Smith (Elena Taylor); one sister Eva Garza; grandchildren Scott, George IV, Clayton, Nacona, Rodney, Roger, Jason, Riva, Robert Jr., Ryan, Jill, Rachel, and Rocky; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Minerva met the love of her life, Oscar R. Ayala, whom she married in Brownsville, TX. Together they formed a wonderful family and raised 2 beautiful children, Rita and Robert. Married for over fifty-five plus years, she was a woman of faith who loved helping anyone who was in need. She was a family oriented wife and spending time with family and friends was her favorite past time. Baking was one of her other unique passions. She was famous for her amazing cornbread and her on-of-a-kind fruit salad. She will be missed, loved and remembered by family and those who had the pleasure of meeting her. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 1PM to 8PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 10AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be at 12PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 1PM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Rodney, Ryan, Robert Jr., Rocky, Scott, George IV, Clayton, and Nacona. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Monica Garcia.
