Manuel Gregorio Tijerina, 83, of Brownsville, Texas, has gone home to be with our Lord on September 13, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 1, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gregorio Tijerina and Maria Tapia; two sisters Oralia Tijerina Serna, and Dorina Tijerina Lozano; former wife Maria Antonia Rippstine; one daughter Maria Antonia Tijerina; and one son Manuel Gregorio Tijerina Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: 7 daughters and 1 son Maria Magdalena Tijerina, Yolanda Tijerina-Coronado (Armando), Leticia Tijerina, Mary Elizabeth Tijerina-Martinez (Francisco), Maria Luisa Tijerina (Jose), Eduardo Tijerina (Hilda), Norma Alicia Tejada(Ruben), and Sylvia Ludivina Vasquez.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 19, 2022 from 1PM to 8PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 8PM with a chapel service at 10AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 11AM at Buena Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Tijerina-Tejada, Mario G. Gasca, Francisco O. Abrego, Jorge L. Campos, Agapito Valdez, Adan Valdez, Aniceto Almaguer, and Eusebio Robles.

My amazing grandpa, thank you for the beautiful memories you gave us. I already miss our phone calls and all the laughs we had but as much as we would love to still have you with us, I know you are in a better place with no suffering. May you forever rest in peace grandpa and know you will forever be in our hearts.

My grandpa was the very best I wish he was still here because, he has inspired me to become an FBI Agent people tell me do it for yourself but, not for others. If I could say anything to him grandpa I Dianna Marie Lopez is going to make you proud because you inspired me to become an FBI Agent and I will keep this promise I will make through high school and I am going to become that FBI Agent for myself and you grandpa I love you and I miss you and I wish you were still here with us but, you in a better place love you grandpa I will make you proud I know your looking looking over us love you.
Grandpa, what can I say that I didn’t say to you already… I love you very much and you will be missed everyday… thank you for being great to us and always being there when I needed you…
