Rosa Garza

Rosa Garza

The Lord called our beloved mother, Rosy Garza, on Monday, June 13, 2022. Rosy battled and was a survivor of breast cancer, but it never stopped her from giving out the best hugs and assist with anything you needed. Rosy passed away at Rio at Fox Hollow surrounded by her loving family children. She was born in Linares, Nuevo Leon, MX on August 30, 1940.

Around 1960, Rosy met the love of her life, Ramiro Garza, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, MX. The minute Ramiro laid eyes on her he knew she was the one. After a year of talking and dating, Ramiro proposed and married Rosy on February 18, 1962. Together, they raised 4 beautiful children, Humberto, Ramiro, Nancy and Gabriel. She was a loving mother, an exceptional wife, the best grandmother and great-grandmother and loyal sister and friend. She was known to have many talents. Among some, she was an amazing seamstress and dressmaker. She designed, customized and fitted her own wedding dress. Following her gift of tailoring and designing creating mesmerizing wedding & quinceñera dresses for her children and grandchildren. During her more recent years she enjoyed gambling, slot machines and lottery tickets, but above all spending time with family and friends. If anyone was sick, she was always the first one at the doorstep to provide care and prepare a meal.

Rosy was known for her kind soul, always willing to cheer her family and friends up with her famous tamales. Her skillful hands and the special touch of love, created the perfect recipe. Her tamales were by far the best in Texas. Her genuine and natural motherly instincts were the qualities that stood out the most, especially always placing anybody else’s needs before her own.  She will be missed, remembered and loved by all who were fortunate to have her in their lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Modesto Gonzalez Cavazos and Severa Chapa Treviño; one son, Gabriel Garza and one grandson, Humberto Garza Jr.; five siblings, Santos, Benito, Margarita “Magueâ€, Angela “Gelaâ€, and Ramon.

Rosy is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years of marriage, Ramiro Garza; three children, Humberto (Mary Jane) Garza, Ramiro Jr. (Yolanda) Garza, Nancy (Rene) Ruiz; seventeen grandchildren, Jesus Enrique Garza, Ivana Cavazos, Jose Manuel Cavazos, Raul Garza, Ivy Provost, Denice Ramuski, Carmen Nicole Garza, Amy Lynn Garza, Isabella Garza, Gabriella Garza, Rene R. Nancy
My sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. I remember you all when you were living on Polk St. and then you all moved across from Ringgold St. My mom used to order tamales . May God be with you and your family during this time.
