Alfredo “Fred” Torres Jr.

Alfredo “Fred†Torres, Jr. 70, of Brownsville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on April 22^nd, 2022, at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

He was born in Kingsville, Texas on March 13^th, 1952, to Alfredo Torres Sr., and Delia Moreno-Torres. He grew up with 6 sisters and 1 brother. As a curious teen he enjoyed spending time working with his hands, disassembling and reassembling machines; a hobby in which transpired into career as a commercial and residential electrician.

Fred lived a simple and humble life. When it came to sports, he followed any Texas team, collegiate or professional, but most of all, for 62 years, he was a staunch Dallas Cowboys’ fan. On weekends, he would find any excuse to have a barbecue and invite all who could join. Lastly, Fred enjoyed offering up his free time to work on inspecting, installing, or modifying electrical components and systems of buildings and home renovations.

He is preceded in death by his son, Alfredo Torres III; his parents, and one sister. Survivors include his daughter, Vanessa Torres; brother Angel Torres and sister(s) Yolanda De La Paz, Gloria De La Paz, Connie DeLeon, Olga Trevino, Mary Longoria, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 12-8pm with a Rosary, celebrating the life of Fred at 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 27^th, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Flower Shop. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, Texas. (956) 350-8485

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be made; funds will be used towards funeral expenses.
