Roberto S. Garza

Roberto S. Garza

Roberto S. Garza, 58, of Brownsville, TX devoted spouse, father, grandfather, brother and friend, entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2022, at Valley Baptist Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on September 21, 1963.

Roberto went by many names, from Grandpa Bob, to Papi, to Róbe, to carnal. One name he also went by was unspoken yet unanimously agreed upon by all who met him, Fierce Warrior. The world had the pleasure of knowing an always joking and happy spirit. His medical ailments were never hidden and all who knew him could see the strength he had while battling it all head on. These were not ever easy feats and speaks volumes of his character as a resilient and tough man who had so much to fight for.

As the oldest brother of his family, he was the joker that everyone had many stories to entertain for hours. His ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face was always something to count on and his brothers and sisters will miss him dearly. His ability to keep fighting no matter the odds or obstacles, is cemented in the hearts of his daughters because he is the hero they were blessed with. He was given five daughters to guide in this world and he did an amazing job at showing them what it means to be strong, persistent and a little bit stubborn too. His love for his grandchildren is also a true testament of how huge his heart was. The immense amount of love they have for him intensifies as they remember him by the moments of laughter and fun they all shared with him in their own ways. There will never be enough selfies on his social media to fill the void that is now left behind.

He is loved by many and missed by all. Not a day will go by where someone in his life will say, “I remember when…†and be taken back to the nostalgic moments where he brought light into the room he walked into. He may have been a cop and defender of the law, but he managed to be a successful thief and steal the hearts of many in his path to live life the fullest

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joel Garza Escobedo and Maria S. Garza; one brother, Mario Alberto Garza.

Left to cherish his memory is his spouse, Ida Hernandez; his children, Martha Gabriela Garza, Maria Isabel (Matthew L.) Parker, Vanessa Viviana Garza, Sasha Cecilia (Robert J. Jr.) Dumm, Ashley Nicole (John A.) Stringer; his siblings, Maria Magdalena G. (Inocencio) Solis, Humberto (Blanca Orozco) Garza, Joel S. (Rita Hinojosa) Garza; his grandchildren, Catia, Cara, Alina, Dominique, Elias, Erin, Liliana, Roberto, Abigail, Emily, Joseph, Felix and Gavin.
