Maria del Rosario Piña, 87, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, great-grandmother, and friend entered into eternal rest on February 2, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico on October 3, 1934.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Narciso Piña; parents Gregoria Sanchez and Severo Montoya.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Angelica Piña, David (Monica) Piña, Marina (Roy) Gutierrez, and Jose Antonio (Maty) Piña.
“Grandma Chayo†as she was affectionately addressed was very loving and kind, always wearing a vibrant smile and endearing others with her laughter. Her kindness was evident by the people who knew or met her. She was showered with love by her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 9AM to 12PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:30AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be at 2PM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
