Luz Elena Sanchez, 70, of Brownsville, Texas entered into eternal rest on December 6, 2021. 

Luz Elena was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on September 8, 1951 to Maria Esther and Jose Romualdo De Alba. Luz Elena was a talented cook, baker and seamstress. She had an adventurous spirit for travel and cuisine. She loved action films!

Luz Elena was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Luz Elena was a skilled worker and excelled in everything she did. She received her High school diploma and went on to study Early Child Development at The University of Texas at Brownsville. Luz Elena’s most cherished trait in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family. 

Luz Elena is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends and all individuals that she met along the way.

Luz Elena is survived by her loving children Lillian Davis-Sanchez (Rhett), Tomas Sanchez Jr, Sally Sanchez, and Yvonne Madsen (Scott). Her four grandchildren, Nathaniel Sanchez (Sarah), Mina Welther, Aaron Sanchez and Anna Welther. Her siblings, Alicia Estella Laidlaw (Malcom), Dora Elia De Alba De Leon (Felix+), Patricia Rodriguez De Alba De Hernandez (Pablo), Irma de Refugio De Alba, many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Luz Elena is preceded in death by her husband Tomas G. Sanchez, her father Jose Romualdo De Alba Sanchez, her mother Maria Esther Rodriguez de Alba, her sister Alma Rosa de Alba de Vigil, her brother Jose Fransciso Felipe De Alba Rodriguez, her brother Carlos Alberto De Alba Rodriguez, her brother Federico Gerardo De Alba Rodriguez, and her brother Gustavo Gerardo De Alba Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Viewing and Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 114 E. Price Road, Brownsville, December 18, 2021 at 9:30 A.M. with services starting at 10:00 A.M. Bishop Gillespie will be officiating. Burial will follow at Guillen Community Cemetery at 9055 Boca Chica Blvd, Brownsville, Texas
