Roberto Parra Jr.

Roberto Parra Jr., 84, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 24, 1937, in Brownsville, Texas. Roberto is preceded in death by his parents, Roberto Parra Sr., and Consuelo V. Parra; brother Alberto Parra Sr., and his wife Mary Louise Lutz Parra.

Left to cherish his memory is his only daughter, Gabriela Seibel (Husband Kent Seibel); grandson, Alberto K. Seibel; granddaughter Ana Seibel Najera (Husband Desi Najera III) ; great-granddaughter Elliana Najera, and three sisters, Hilda Silva, Berta Aguilar, and Lydia Lutz, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Roberto served in the U.S. Army as a financial officer during the Vietnam Era. Following his military service, he worked in retail until he retired. Roberto will always be remembered as a happy and easy-going person with a very generous and giving heart. He especially had a heart for children. Whether it be his own grandchildren or children he met a work or around town, he would always make an effort to make them laugh and smile.  Roberto was a wonderful father and grandfather; he would affectionately refer to his daughter and grandchildren as “mijito†and “mijitaâ€. Always an optimist, he would often say, “life is beautiful, you can either make it miserable or beautiful.†He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 1 PM to 8 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Tuesday, at 10 AM with a chapel service at 12 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park.
