Maria Gloria Mata

Maria Gloria Mata, 61, devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home by Our Lord on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, in Brownsville, TX. Gloria was born on December 26, 1959, in Brownsville, TX to Felipa Piña and Juan Perez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Mata, her father, Juan Perez.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Felipa Piña de Perez; five children, Lori Beth (Pablo III) Mata, Lisa Annette (Mohamed) Deyab, Felipa Lizzet Mata, Paula Michelle (Juan Carlos) Jaramillo and Paul Michael Mata; grandchildren, Emily, Gloria, Luis, Jordyn, Korie, Heather, Aaliyah, Liberty, Ernest, Isaac, J.C., Jordan, Enrique, Joshua and Jason; two great-grandchildren, Serenity and Jesus Jr.; eight siblings, Francis Perez, Virginia Garza, Marina Guerrero, Juan Perez Jr., Rodrigo Perez, Ismael Perez, Sergio Perez and Julia Gallegos.

Gloria was such a beautiful soul! She was full of life and truly God sent. A true giver and always put everyone else before her.  She had a kind heart and a personality that could outshine the sun. She would always make sure that no matter where she was or what she was doing, that everyone around her was happy and enjoying themselves.  She was support, she was warmth, she was brilliant, she was funny, and she is and always will be loved, admired, and remembered.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
