Brownsville, Texas – A joyful son, brother, friend and community member died Saturday, August 7, 2021, in Brownsville, Texas.
Juan was born on April 20, 1987, in Harlingen, Texas, to Jose Guadalupe Borjon and Paula Hernandez Borjon.


He attended Reynaldo Garza Elementary School, Filemon B. Vela Middle School, Homer Hanna High School and James Pace High School. While in high school, Juan excelled in athletics and played football at Hanna and Pace High Schools. He earned his Certificate of Graduation from Seaborne ChalleNGe Corps, a military academy commissioned by the U.S. Department of Defense and the Texas National Guard, in Galveston, Texas, in December 2004. He enrolled and attended both industrial trade courses and general education courses at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC).


Juan was a loving person and cared deeply about others. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends in downtown Brownsville. Juan was an artist. He was excellent at drawing and painting. Juan was also passionate about conjunto music and liked to write lyrics and poems, sing and rap. Among his favorite singers and artists were Los Fantasmas del Valle, Ruben Naranjo, Beto Quintanilla, Carlos y Jose, Ramon Ayala, Luis y Julian, Ruben Vela, Los Cadetes de Linares, to name a few. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. Juan had a knack for jokes and storytelling and was the life of the party. He left this world too soon.


The family wishes to thank the Brownsville Police Department and the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office for their work in handling the case that caused his death. The family is hopeful justice will prevail.


He is preceded in death by his mother: Paula Hernandez Borjon.
Survivors include his father Jose Guadalupe Borjon, brother Jose Borjon, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.


Visitations will be from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematorium.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematorium. Funeral Mass will be officiated by Father Francisco Acosta at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St., Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Noe Ortiz at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematorium, 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78526. (956) 350-8485
