Diana Nori Diaz, DDS, born on September 21, 1955, devoted sister, and local family dentist for over 38 years, passed away on Friday August 6th, 2021, in Brownsville, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Hilaria Cavazos-Diaz, and her father Antonio Manuel Diaz Sr.
She is survived by her two brothers, Dr. Antonio M Diaz Jr. MD, and Dr. Tom Diaz MD.
The Diaz family also wishes to acknowledge, with deep gratitude and affection, Lorenza (Lecha) Eguia her longtime caregiver, Dr. Juan Martinez, her long-time primary care doctor who took excellent care of her throughout her adult life and his wonderful office staff, Dr. Kharkoutly, her hospitalist and critical care doctor and the staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.
She will be greatly missed.
Diana or as she was known to many as “Dianita†was a very lovable, generous, kind, and overall, great human being. She was very well known and admired in the community and was active member of the Saint Mary’s Church congregation in Brownsville, Texas.
Dianita was also an early achiever. From her early days, she was an accomplished pianist and always did well at school.
She was a National Spelling Bee Champion in elementary school to earn a trip to Washington, D.C. to compete at the national level in 1968, winning third place. Her brothers remember her continual dedication to practicing numerous hours a day by herself and with her mom (Mary) to get ready for the competitions. Anything she put her mind to, she would dedicate herself to prepare.
She was a varsity cheerleader while attending Villa Maria School in the graduating Class of 1973.
After graduating high school, she attended Trinity University in San Antonio finishing in 1976, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Â While there, she was a member of the Chi Beta Epsilon Sorority.
She was subsequently accepted to dental school and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1980.
Soon thereafter, she relocated to McAllen/Mission area where she initiated her dental career. She ultimately set up her own private practice in Brownsville, Texas where she finished her successful dental career and retired.
All her life she devoted it to her parents. She and her Mom (Mary) were inseparable.
Dianita had so many friends that loved her and respected her.
She loved to gather every Saturday, with 5 or 6 lady friends to chat and cook something to eat. The gathering was known as “viejas†day amongst this little group, catching up with the latest “chisme†or gossip, having lots of fun, eating tamales, pozole or other fancy home cooked dishes.
It was true friendship.
Dianita loved living and enjoyed her life as travelling throughout the world, to Europe, China, and Mexico many times with friends but, also with her Mom (Mary) and family. There was never a dull moment, with her, she enjoyed life with those around her.
Dianita, you will always be remembered for everything that you accomplished, and for being so generous, and kind human being to everyone you met.
“We will love you, forever.†God bless you and may your soul Rest in Peace.

Diana was a wonderful, loyal, kind friend. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. I will cherish the lifetime memories of our friendship. I will miss her but never forget her!
Love you Diana! Rest in peace.
I am so saddened by the passing of Diana. I remember having a crush on her when we were both in our 20’s. I was mesmerized by her beautiful green eyes when she put her face to mine at the dental chair. She was so buoyant and cheerful. As the decades unfolded, we remain friends. I always wanted the best for Diana and to protect her from people who might take advantage of her trusting nature. She left us too soon.
My condolences to the family. She and her mother, who she so dearly loved, can now be together again.
Diana was one of the kindest, sweetest and most caring persons I was fortunate to know…a gentle soul.
She was the essence of compassion, style and beauty.
Diana has gone home now, guided by her faith and by the light of those she has loved and lost. She is with them once more. May God Bless her and may she rest in eternal peace.
To Tony and Tom, her siblings, my most profound condolences for your loss.
A beautiful soul is never forgotten. God has you in His arms. We have you in our hearts.
