Juan Vela, 62, of Brownsville, Texas very devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into eternal rest on July 6, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe Vela and Estefana Ybarra Lopez, brothers Florencio Lopez, Eliseo Vela, Jacinto Vela, and Miguel Vela.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years Elida Dimas Vela; children Monica Tanguma (Eloy Tanguma), Veronica Casados (Cesar Casados); 6 grandchildren; sisters Maria Rodriguez, Guadalupe Vasquez, Eloisa Vela-Moreno, Sylvia Bustinza, and Maria Irma Vela; brother Manuel Vela; numerous half siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He worked for the City of Brownsville for many years. He was very outgoing and loved Tejano music. He loved having family gatherings and barbeques.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 1 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel will open at 9 AM on Friday, July 9, 2021, with burial to be at 11 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park.
