Mireya Esther Garcia Loya

Mireya Esther Garcia Loya, of Brownsville, TX, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas on April 7, 1960.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband David Ochoa Garcia; parents Juan Manuel Loya and Esther Naranjo de Loya; children David Alejandro Garcia and Dania Mireya Garcia; brothers Sergio Loya, Juan Manuel Loya, Hector Loya, and Alberto Loya; grandchildren David Axel Garcia and Daniel Nicolas Garcia.

She was a charismatic woman, always willing to help others in need. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mireya dedicated more than 20 years as an educator and served as an advocate for children with special needs, during her tenure at Brownsville Independent School District.  She enjoyed gardening and home décor.  She will be greatly missed.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 11, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the end of the funeral mass.  Funeral services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Flower Shop. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, TX 78526.
