Zaul Zenon Zamora

Zaul Zenon Zamora

Zaul Zenon Zamora, 75, of Brownsville, TX devoted husband, father enter into eternal rest on May 14, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville TX, on December 13,1945.

An eternal optimist, with a strong faith and deep love for the Lord, numbers, and his family. Zaul never met a stranger and had a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was incredibly funny and loved to make people laugh; he had the best catch phrases and always had something funny to say: “crunch all you want,†and “you got it, now take it away.† He also had a love for music from a very young age playing the trumpet in school, and spontaneously bursting into song singing Hallelujah, Cristo Vive! You could always count on Zaul to be there when you needed him with extreme punctuality. This started at a young age with a track record of receiving honors in school for perfect attendance with no tardies. Zaul was a hard worker from a very young age and was the only son of 4 children, he worked in the family business “Zamora’s Paintsâ€. Born into an entrepreneurial family and hard workers, taking the example from his father. Zaul graduated from Brownsville High School and went into the Air Force to serve his country as a Sergeant during the Vietnam war as a weapons mechanic. In the Air force he discovered his love for travel and Spain. When he left the Military, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Southern University in accounting and was quickly employed by the largest accounting firm in the world followed by employment within the IRS. He later married and started his family by having 3 children. He took a break from accounting to begin his entrepreneurial career by opening restaurants in the Houston area, the first being “ZZ’s Zamora’s†followed by “Savors†and “Zamora’s Restaurant†in Brownsville.  He had a love for the restaurant business, working with the Ninfa family followed by Antonio’s Mexican Restaurant. He returned to Brownsville where he resided for the remainder of his life, remarrying the love of his life and having his fourth child. Zaul opened Jericho health services, and in his final years worked as a day trader. Asking several people: “What do you remember most about Zaul?†Time and again, the answer was his joy, his honesty, and his humor. Zaul fought hard, or as he put it: “I fought the good fight against cancerâ€. He is survived by his wife Maricruz who said, “he was always a good man and the best husband in the worldâ€. His first born Zelina “he was the greatest father I could of ever asked for†his daughter Zandra “he was my mentor, faith leader, and confidant, he is the reason I have my faith in Jesus†and his youngest Alex “he taught me the importance of integrity, strong work ethic, and perseverance. My favorite saying of his was “always do your best, that’s all I can ask for.â€

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 1 to 7 pm with Military Honors at 5:30 p.m. Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 657 Springmart Blvd, in Brownsville Texas. Services conclude at the end of the evening.

My deepest condolences to Mari and to his entire family. May God give you the peace, comfort and strength at this time of grieving. My cousin Zaul had a great sense of humor. I think that comes from the Zamora side of the family because we are very out going, we love to talk, laugh and make every stranger welcomed. May our cousin Zaul rest in peace and the light of pertual shine always. ❤

    To the Z family,
My sincerest condolences to all of you on the loss of your brother who is now making your Mom and Dad laugh in heaven. Our family was a long-time friend of your family and always had great respect for Sofia and Manuel, Zoyla, Zulema, and Zeyla. Their honesty and trustworthiness always flowed throughout all their actions. May Zaul rest in peace, knowing that he did fight the good fight and is now reaping the rewards.
