Rev. Jane Huerta

Rev. Jane Huerta

Reverend Jane Huerta, 62, of Brownsville, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. She gave her life to Lord at the young age of 16 and immediately felt called into the ministry.  After graduating from Instituto Biblico Magdiel in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she became an evangelist and preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over Mexico.  In 1983, at the age of 25, a group of families aspiring to serve God founded a church, La Luz del Mundo (now Lighthouse Christian Center), and she pastored the flock up to her last day for 38 years. She loved her church family dearly and compassionately and always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the flock.

Teaching and education were also great passions in her life.  After dropping out as a freshman in high school because of the need to work and after being married with two young children, she believed God for greater things in her life.  She challenged and passed her GED, went on to college, and eventually graduated with her teaching degree and a 4.0 GPA.  She taught for 25 years and touched so many lives, not as Reverend, but as Mrs. Huerta, middle and high school teacher.

Rev. Jane Huerta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and entered her eternal rest with her loving husband at her side.  She was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on May 19, 1958.  She is preceded in death by her mother Maria Ines Beltran, stepfather Juan Beltran, and her sister Socorro “Coco†Soto de Gonzalez.  Also preceding her in death are her beloved uncle and aunt, whom she loved enough to call them “papa†y “mamaâ€, Rafael and Socorro Rosales.

Rev. Jane Huerta is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jose Angel; daughter Dina Jane and son Nathanael; daughter-in-law Ruby; and 3 grandchildren Angel Rafael, Mia Victoria, and Dineli Jane.  She is also survived by her older sister Sonia Coronado, and also sister Deborah Perez.

Service, viewing, and visitation will be held at Lighthouse Christian Center, 5552 Dockberry Road. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, April 24 from 9am – 9pm and on Sunday from 9am – 2pm.  Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, April 25 at 10:00am.

Ella tomó y pasó su GED, fue a la universidad y finalmente se graduó con su título de maestra y un GPA de 4.0.
