Amstead Jim “Tapi” Bush

Amstead Jim “Tapi†Bush, 69, went home to our Lord on February 11, 2021 in Solara Hospital-Brownsville, TX. He is preceded in death by his Father: Harold Parson Bush, Mother: Alvina Borden Bush and Brother: Parson Harold Bush.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Rosa Bush, his loving children, Michelle Jane Bush, Harold Jim Bush (Angel Aranda), Michael Bush (Janet Bush) and Elsie Denise Bush Grienier (Rolando Grienier). Also, his grandchildren: Steven Alexander Barron, Kayla Myshelle Bush, Xerenna Shanel Maldonado, Tatiana Alexi Rivera, Antony Jayden Bush, Kylar Devyn Grienier, Alexander Gavin Bush, Krysalee Rose Grienier, Adrian Garcia and Luke Amstead Bush and great grandchildren. Sisters: Virginia Bush and Jane Lily Bush Merren and Brother: Adler Hamilton Bush.

Jim was born on August 29, 1951 in Guanaja, Bay Islands of Honduras. On December 2, 1967 he moved to Port Isabel, TX. At the age of 18 he began working on shrimp boats where a worked his way up to Captain for many years. In 1969 he met his beautiful wife Rosa and married her October 4, 1971, where they began their lifelong journey and had their 4 beautiful children, who he loved with all his heart. Jim loved to fish, dance, listen to country and tropical music, cook/bake banana bread, loved watching cowboy movies, and spend quality time with his family. He was a man of few words, but he never missed an opportunity to talk to give you words of wisdom and talk about his life stories.

He passed away after a long hard battle with illness. He fought as hard as he could. He’s a true image of a WARRIOR. He is no longer suffering but is home safe and sound in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus. Jim will be dearly missed by his beloved family and Friends. “Fly High Daddyâ€.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 1 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Flower Shop. Services will conclude at the end of the evening.
