The story of Blanca Rosa Perez-Huff begins in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. She was born in the town of San Benito on June 4th, 1954. She was the first child born in the United States to her parents Enedino Perez and Maria de Jesus Moreno. Her father, a barber, was from Tamaulipas, Mexico, and her mother, a midwife, was raised in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Blanca grew up with her younger brothers Juan (Perez), Jose (Perez) and sister Irma (Carrera) in Matamoros, Mexico. At 12 years old she moved to the US with her brothers to attend school in Brownsville, Texas. While living there her youngest sibling Martin (Sandoval) joined the family.
As a teenager, Blanca loved to read and, over time, had filled up a big shelf with all of the books she read. Young Blanca graduated from Brownsville High School and then attended college at Texas Southmost College and the University of Houston. On May 14th, 1978 she became the first member of the family to graduate from college.
Blanca joined the United States Army in June of 1978 and went to Fort Jackson in South Carolina for her basic combat training. She said that the first thing she noticed there was the fresh smell of pine trees, while arriving on the bus. Combat training was tough and running in combat boots was really painful to the knees. The Drill Sergeants would often scream and yell in the recruit’s faces. Blanca was able to complete her basic training with no problem.
For her specialty training, she went to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, where she met Ron Huff, another soldier from Cleveland, Ohio, who was there training as a military dental technician. They started dating and many of their first dates were along the beautiful Riverwalk full of restaurants and tour boats. They got married in San Antonio that year. Blanca’s mother, Maria, attended the civil ceremony.
Blanca had a passion for helping people and she was able to do that when she served at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas as a Medical and Behavioral Science Specialist. There she worked at a military facility helping service members in recovery. After completing her time in the Army in May of 1979, she traveled to Fort Jackson in South Carolina to join her husband Ron where he worked at the dental facility on the base.
While on a trip to visit Ron’s brother Eric, who was serving as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina, she happened upon a church revival. After hearing the message about salvation in Jesus Christ, she became a Christian and was baptized right there at the service. She had been raised Catholic and this was a big change in her life. She told everyone how excited she was to create and grow a relationship with Jesus Christ. She started praying daily and listening to Christian music.
In April of 1982 Ron and Blanca welcomed a son Ronnie C. Huff III. While living in Columbia and raising young Ronnie she continued her college studies in Medical Assistance and Nursing and then started working in Nursing. She always had a happy disposition and enjoyed telling her colleagues about the impact that Jesus had made in her life. She joined a Spanish-speaking Christian church called Fuente de Vida and became close friends with the pastors and their families (Carlos and Ramonita Mojica and Mitchell and Debbie Martinez).
In 1988 Blanca separated from Ron and moved back to Brownsville along with her son, to be around her family. That same year, her mother became ill and she helped care for her until her mother died a few months later. She was able to introduce her son to his cousins in Texas. Blanca’s brother Juan had four children with Yolanda: Adrian, Isaias, Josue, and Rosario. Jose did not have any children. Irma had two children Francisco and a daughter Irma Liliana. Martin had four daughters with Rosie: Cindy, Amanda, Jessica, and Maggie Rose.
While establishing herself in her hometown again, Blanca worked in Nursing. She enjoyed celebrating birthdays, holidays, and events with her siblings and helping them. Along with raising Ronnie and always encouraging him to seek God’s wisdom in all of his decisions, she took every opportunity to grow in her spiritual life as a Christian. She would often visit and pray for people that were in need. Blanca would also volunteer to help feed the homeless. For people that could not read, she would help explain and process their important documents.
In 1991 Blanca returned to Columbia, South Carolina. She moved into the community of Woodfield, outside of Fort Jackson. She reconnected with her church Fuente de Vida along with the Mojica and Martinez families. She signed up to work as a Sunday School teacher at the church for the kindergarten age children. At times she would volunteer to help new community members trying to get established. Blanca would regularly spend time during the week writing letters to her friends, neighbors, and relatives to encourage them and lift their spirits. While there, she also continued to work in nursing.
In the year 2000, Blanca’s son, Ronnie, graduated from High School. Afterward he also joined the military, completed college, and worked in community development in Woodfield as he was influenced by his mother’s example. In 2008, Blanca gained a daughter-in-law, when Ronnie got married to Dinah. Blanca enjoyed spending time connecting with her. She was happy to get such a special addition to the family. In those years she also became good friends with her new Pastor, Washington.
In 2019, Blanca moved back to Brownsville with her son and daughter-in-law. They joined a Camino de Salvacion Church, pastored by her sister Irma and brother-in-law Cipriano. During this time, her extended family had grown. She enjoyed spending time with them on any occasion. Upon returning she got to meet the partners of her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews:

Blanca lived with Ronnie and Dinah until 2021, when she passed on to Glory. She often told Ronnie, “When I pass on, let people know to be happy and sing because I am alive in heaven. Jesus has saved and restored my soul and I am celebrating with him in paradise!â€

Blanca tenÃa una pasión por ayudar a las personas y pudo hacerlo cuando se desempeñó en Fort Hood en Killeen, Texas como especialista en ciencias médicas y del comportamiento. Allà trabajó en una instalación militar ayudando a los miembros del servicio en la recuperación. Después de completar su tiempo en el ejército en mayo de 1979, viajó a Fort Jackson en Carolina del Sur para reunirse con su esposo Ron, donde trabajaba en el centro dental de la base.
Mientras estaba en un viaje para visitar al hermano de Ron, Eric, quien se desempeñaba como paracaidista en Fort Bragg en Fayetteville, Carolina del Norte, se encontró con una campaña de avivamiento de la iglesia. Después de escuchar el mensaje sobre la salvación en Jesucristo, se hizo cristiana y se bautizó allà mismo en el servicio. Se habÃa criado como católica y esto supuso un gran cambio en su vida. Les dijo a todos lo emocionada que estaba por crear y hacer crecer una relación con Jesucristo. Comenzó a orar a diario y a escuchar música cristiana.
En abril de 1982, Ron y Blanca le dieron la bienvenida a un hijo, Ronnie C. Huff III. Mientras vivÃa en Columbia y criaba a Ronnie, continuó sus estudios universitarios en Asistencia Médica y EnfermerÃa y luego comenzó a trabajar en EnfermerÃa. Siempre tuvo una disposición feliz y disfrutaba contarles a sus colegas sobre el impacto que Jesús habÃa tenido en su vida. Se unió a una iglesia cristiana de habla hispana llamada Fuente de Vida y se hizo amiga cercana de los pastores y sus familias (Carlos y Ramonita Mojica y Mitchell y Debbie Martinez).
En 1988 Blanca se separó de Ron y se mudó de regreso a Brownsville junto con su hijo, para estar con su familia. Ese mismo año, su madre se enfermó y ayudó a cuidarla hasta que su madre falleció unos meses después. Pudo presentar a su hijo a sus primos en Texas. El hermano de Blanca, Juan, tuvo cuatro hijos con Yolanda: Adrián, IsaÃas, Josué y Rosario. José no tuvo hijos. Irma tuvo dos hijos, Francisco y una hija, Irma Liliana. Martin tuvo cuatro hijas con Rosie: Cindy, Amanda, Jessica y Maggie Rose.
Mientras se establecÃa nuevamente en su ciudad natal, Blanca trabajaba en EnfermerÃa. Disfrutaba celebrando cumpleaños, dÃas festivos y eventos con sus hermanos y ayudándolos. Además de criar a Ronnie y animarlo siempre a buscar la sabidurÃa de Dios en todas sus decisiones, aprovechó cada oportunidad para crecer en su vida espiritual como cristiana. A menudo visitaba y oraba por las personas necesitadas. Blanca también se ofrecerÃa como voluntaria para ayudar a alimentar a las personas sin hogar. Para las personas que no sabÃan leer, ayudarÃa a explicar y procesar sus documentos importantes.
En 1991 Blanca regresó a Columbia, Carolina del Sur. Se mudó a la comunidad de Woodfield, en las afueras de Fort Jackson. Se reconectó con su iglesia Fuente de Vida junto con las familias Mojica y MartÃnez. Se inscribió para trabajar como maestra de escuela dominical en la iglesia para los niños en edad de jardÃn de infantes. A veces, se ofrecÃa como voluntaria para ayudar a los nuevos miembros de la comunidad que intentaban establecerse. Blanca solÃa dedicar tiempo durante la semana a escribir cartas a sus amigos, vecinos y parientes para animarlos. Mientras estuvo allÃ, también continuó trabajando en enfermerÃa.
En el año 2000, el hijo de Blanca, Ronnie, se graduó de la escuela secundaria. Luego también se unió al ejército, completó la universidad y trabajó en desarrollo comunitario en Woodfield, ya que fue influenciado por el ejemplo de su madre. En 2008, Blanca ganó una nuera, cuando Ronnie se casó con Dinah. Blanca disfrutaba pasar tiempo conectándose con ella. Estaba feliz de tener una adición tan especial a la familia. En esos años también se hizo buena amiga de su nueva pastora, Washington.
En 2019, Blanca regresó a Brownsville con su hijo y su nuera. Se unieron a la Iglesia Camino de Salvacion, pastoreada por su hermana Irma y su cuñado Cipriano. Durante este tiempo, su familia extendida habÃa crecido. Disfrutaba pasar tiempo con ellos en cualquier ocasión. Al regresar conoció a los socios de sus sobrinas y sobrinos y sus sobrinos nietos:

Blanca vivió con Ronnie y Dinah hasta 2021, cuando pasó a la Gloria. A menudo le decÃa a Ronnie: “Cuando fallezca, déjele saber a la gente que debe ser feliz y cantar porque estoy viva en el cielo. ¡Jesús ha salvado y restaurado mi alma y estoy celebrando con él en el paraÃso! “
