Dolores Castillo, 67, devoted mother, loving grandmother, caring sister, and great friend, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX.
Dolores was born on November 23, 1953 in Brownsville, TX to Susana E. and Maximo Castillo who preceded her in death. A native from Brownsville and a devoted Catholic, Dolores enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and serving the Lord. Her contagious smile and warmth will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Monica (Alejo) Sanchez, Joey Melchor, Wynema (Jose) Martinez, Zulema Melchor; her loving companion, Jaime Mendez; four grandchildren, Matthew J. Martinez, Diego A. Sanchez, Ryan J. Martinez, and Olivia G. Sanchez; nine siblings, Jesus (Pauline) Castillo, Miguel (Eva) Castillo, Martin (Dolores) Castillo, Arnoldo Castillo, Arnulfo (Bertha) Castillo, Teresa (Jaime) Guillen, Ricardo (Veronica) Castillo, Reynaldo (Rosalinda) Castillo, and Raymundo Castillo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home; Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church located at 555 W St Francis St, Brownsville, TX 78520. Christian burial will follow at Guillen Community Cemetery.
