Lilia Fuentes

Lilia Fuentes of 74 years of age, passed to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her residence in Brownsville Texas. She is preceded by her husband, parents, and 7 brother and sisters.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her journey began on April 22, 1946 in La Union Morales, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was the daughter to Lorenzo and Carlota Gonzalez and a caring sister to 11 brothers and sisters. She became a devoted wife to Felipe Fuentes on December 2, 1981, a loving mother to 4 children, Carlota, Aaron, Adha and Felipe Jr. and an adoring grandma to Brianna, Ryan, Adriel, Allen, Yahaira, Axel, and Kehlani. Lilia was an amazing home – maker. She always had a clean house, hot home-made meals prepared for anyone, and the love of Christ to share for everyone. She never missed an opportunity to serve her loved ones and anyone who she met. Lilia accepted Christ at an early age and served God in many ministries throughout her life. She was an avid member of Templo Emmanuel where she loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord. She loved reading the Bible and praying for and with others. Lilia lived a life full of faith in God. She always trusted Him and his promises. Even though she battled cancer for nine and a half years, she lived to fulfill her favorite verse of the Bible:

Habakkuk 3:17-18

Though the fig tree does not bud

and there are no grapes on the vines,

though the olive crop fails

and the fields produce no food,

though there are no sheep in the pen

and no cattle in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,

I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 1 to 7PM with a prayer service at 5 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
