Maria del Refugio Treviño

Maria del Refugio Treviño, 71, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on October 18, 2020. She was born to Ezequiel Torres-Gonzales and Maria del Rosario Bustos-Torres on July 9, 1949 in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico.

Maria is survived by four children, Karen Shell, Elvia Tuokko, Carlos Treviño, Christian Treviño, and ten grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Hermelinda Torres-Bustos, Rebecca Torres-Bustos, and Ignacio Torres.

Maria, affectionately called Cuca by her friends and family, was known for her love of cooking and her dedication to her family. She dedicated her life to caring for her children showing them an example of hard work and perseverance.  She always faced every challenge life sent her way and sacrificed to ensure her kids had what they needed. In her retirement she loved sharing her passion for cooking with others, especially her famous flour tortillas and expressed her love by helping in any way she could. She often took the time to stay connected to those she loved both close and far away and loved nothing more than being loved by those who loved her.

Viewing ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:00 PM. Services will conclude at the end of the evening.
