Antonio Gracia Alaniz

Antonio Gracia Alaniz, 76, of Brownsville, TX devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, TX on December 13, 1943.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria Gracia and Octavio Alaniz and two brothers, Octaviano G. Alaniz and Alfredo G. Alaniz.

Left to cherish his memory is his former wife, Francisca Gomez; his children, Marco Antonio Alaniz, Javier Rene Alaniz and Marisol Kelley; three sisters, Guadalupe Solomon, Bertha Lopez, Laly Messa on brother, George Alaniz; and five grand-children, Leah Kelly, Christian Kelley, Alina Kelly, Jackie Alaniz and Claudia Alaniz.

Antonio loved his family very much. He made efforts to ensure his kids had summer vacations when they were young and gifted items to them that were truly special to them. He also helped raise his daughter’s children for a time. He always made sure his children and grandchildren were looked after and cared for. Antonio also liked reading the bible and the books of Joel Osteen. He liked watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans. He also loved to eat at restaurants. He loved to go to Denny’s so that he can visit his friends Ana Montelongo, Erika Longoria and Sam Vasquez. He also loved to go to Golden Corral with family after church services. He will be missed a loved by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 from 1 to 7 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Flower Shop. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville. (956) 350-8485
