Ernestine Rocha

Ernestine Rocha, 84, of Brownsville TX, passed away on September 21, 2020. Ernestine was born September 29, 1935 in Chicago Illinois.  Ernestine is survived by Tom (Joan) Linville, Lawrence (Ana) Linville, Joe (Ann) Rocha, David Rocha, Daniel (Sue) Rocha.  Ernestine had 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.    

For over 45 years, Ernestine worked as a nurse and office manager for Dr. Joseph Zavaleta and Dr. Rodolfo Walss.  Rochita, as she was warmly called by her patients, loved, and cared for them throughout the years.  In return, she had the pleasure and immense pride of seeing countless babies being delivered and then years later, those babies would return to the office to have their babies.  Her clients trusted and loved her and even ask for her by name.  Ernestine loved interacting with her patients and truly loved the families.  She assisted and inspired her own family through life’s difficult times.  Ernestine’s energy and enthusiasm was how she lived her life every day.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 1 to 7 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 9 AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Flower Shop. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville. (956) 350-8485

    My sympathies to Mrs. Rocha’s family. As a fellow Midwesterner, we generally saw eye-to-eye. What a strong, good woman. She will be missed.
