Jose Martin Garza

Jose Martin Garza, 53, of Brownsville, TX, devoted brother, uncle, and friend, entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2020, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, TX, on October 2, 1966.

He is preceded in death by his parents Sabas Garza Jr. and Maria del Socorro Saldivar Garza, his brothers George Garza, Tomas Garza, Jesus Jaime Garza; and nephew Roberto (Robby) Garza Jr.

Joe was a God-fearing man. He was generous, kind, and compassionate.  He enjoyed working outdoors with his brothers, in construction and in landscaping. He loved family gatherings, playing Texas hold’em, and watching the Dallas Cowboy games. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for others. He was known for his secret Chili Sauce and Wild Mexican Rice.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sisters: Ricardo Garza Sr., Gloria G. Gonzalez (Nicolas V.), Roberto Garza Sr. (Norma Linda Saenz), Sabas Garza III (Sylvia Cano), Juan Noe Garza Sr. (Cynthia M Garza), Mary Garza Hinojosa, Susana G. Galvan, Noel Garza (Betty Molina), and Jose Guadalupe Garza. Sister-in-laws Rosalinda Gonzalez Garza, Rebecca Villegas Garza, Celia Rodriguez Garza, Mary Cuellar Garza, and Brother-in-laws Jaime Hinojosa and Armando Galvan.

Nieces and Nephews: Ricardo Garza Jr. (Mari), Javier Garza, Vanessa Garza, Marissa Gonzalez, Marco Gonzalez (Kerry), Luis Gonzalez, Rebecca Garza Cavazos (Ody), Michelle Garza Mondragon (Joseph), Katherine Garza, Nancy Garza Garcia, Michael Tomas Garza, Myles Ryan Garza, Rochelle Garza, Sabas Garza IV, Joe Riley Garza, Sarah Rodriguez Gutierrez (David), Jose Rodriguez (Dulce), Cynthia Rodriguez Gutierrez (Raul), Juan Noe Garza Jr. (Julie), Tomas Garza, Jaime Hinojosa Jr. (Shelly), Rose Marie Hinojosa Mandola (Joseph), Jason Galvan, Brian Galvan (Gina), Noel George Garza Jr., William Garza (Adriana), and Jennifer Garza. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2020, from 1:00-9:00 PM with the Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.

A mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 657 Springmart Blvd. (956) 350-8485.

In lieu of flowers, contributions for a family memorial garden will be accepted at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
