Benjamin Escobedo, 77, of Brownsville, Texas devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2020 at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his wife Maria Adela Escobedo.
Left to cherish his memory is his children Maria E. (Adan) Miranda, Eric Escobedo, Pedro (Rosie) Escobedo, Mireya Salinas, Benjamin Escobedo, and Gonzalo Escobedo. Remembered and loved by his grandchildren Eric Escobedo Jr., Emily Escobedo, Natalie Miranda, Christian Salinas, and Kenneth Salinas.
Mr. Escobedo was a retired employee of the Brownsville Herald. He began his career in 1970 and ended in 2003. He continued his work learning and preaching the gospel of our Lord. Mr. Escobedo provided humanitarian aid to the colonias in Matamoros until his health no longer permitted. He was a strong, loving and hard-working husband and father. All his children thank him for all the beautiful memories he leaves behind. He will be terribly missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 1 to 9 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 10 AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
