Elva Leal Martinez

Elva Leal Martinez, 74, of Brownsville, Texas passed away on April 22, 2020 at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Elva was born on January 2, 1946 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas MX.  She is preceded in death by her parents Vidal Leal and Concepcion Leal Olivares.

Elva was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed and loved by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Margarito Martinez; her three children, Elba (George Beltran) Saldivar, Juany (Eric) Kersey, and Julio (Christina) Perez; ten grandchildren, Itati Saldivar, Enrique Saldivar, Jonathan Diaz, Gia Diaz, Kailoni Diaz, Aidan Kersey, Thiago Kersey, Hannah Perez, Jacob Perez, and Chloe Perez; three great-grandchildren, Thalia Garzoria, Ezra Diaz and Jaxson Diaz; one brother, Guadalupe Leal; one sister, Concepcion De Anda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 10 AM to 5 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Flower Shop. Graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020 at 1 PM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Due to COVID-19 disaster declaration, Brownsville City and Cameron County guidelines and ordinances, limited occupancy rules apply to all gathering including at the funeral parlor and cemetery. A limit of 10 people is under effect and will remain until the quarantine is lifted.
